Naomi Moon Siegel
Live at Earshot
Release date: 5/17/2019
Montana-based trombonist-composer Naomi Moon Siegel’s sophomore album, Live at Earshot, features reimagined live versions of songs from her 2016 debut album Shoebox View, as well as new works that explore the dichotomy of isolation and connection, inspired by Siegel’s recent move from Seattle, WA, where she lived for eight formative years, to the remote and pristine Missoula, MT. Recorded live in 2017 at Seattle’s renowned Earshot Jazz Festival, Live at Earshot is very much a homecoming for Siegel. One year after her move to Missoula, the trombonist returned to Seattle, reconnecting with her closest collaborators to perform at Cornish College’s PONCHO Concert Hall, a room where Siegel experienced countless concerts and masterclasses that inspired her through the years – coming full circle. Live at Earshot features a cast of Seattle’s best instrumentalists and improvisers: guitarist Sean Woolstenhulme, drummer Eric Eagle, pianist Wayne Horvitz (leader of the Royal Room Collective, of which Siegel was a member), bassist Geoff Harper, and special guest percussionist Thione Diop, with Naomi Moon Siegel on trombone and leading the band.
