Naomi Moon Siegel – “a trombonist and composer of great style and distinction” (Earshot Jazz) – is rooted in the Seattle music scene while keeping her home base in Missoula, MT. Fusing folk melodies with fantastical soundscapes and tight grooves, she is a model of creative self-expression inspired by the jazz tradition. In 2016 she released her critically acclaimed debut album Shoebox View – a 10 song travelogue featuring 13 musicians.
A recipient of an Earshot Jazz Golden Ear Award, she is one half of the folk/punk/jazz duo Syrinx Effect, a member of Wayne Horvitz’s ensembles and an active part of the Seattle and Missoula music scenes, performing regionally and internationally. She has performed and collaborated with March Fourth Marching Band, Julian Priester, Allison Miller, Ahamefule J. Oluo, Stuart Dempster, Skerik, Jessica Lurie, Tata Dindin and the Salaam Band, and Thione Diop.
She is also a dedicated educator and the founder of Lakebottom Sound – a non-profit organization dedicated to nourishing the musical landscape of Missoula through concerts, workshops and jam sessions.
